Laura is a local mom, artist, illustrator, and clinical social worker (licensed, NJ). Notably, Laura’s memories of growing up in suburban New Jersey in the 1980’s have been one of the strongest influences for her and current illustrations incorporate the magic of childhood, creating whimsical representations of woodland creatures, hidden worlds, surreal city and landscapes, and enchanted narratives. She earned her BFA at Johnson State College, now Northern Vermont University, with a concentration in oil painting, additionally earning a double major in Psychology. During her time in Vermont, Laura lived and worked as a staff artist at the Vermont Studio Center, an international artists’ community, where she had the opportunity to meet and work alongside of various artists and writers from around the world. After deciding to start a family, she began working in a private clinical practice with children, individuals and families, with a special interest in play-based and art-incorporated therapy. She spends her early mornings and late evenings on her art and illustrations and is currently realizing her decades-old dream of children’s book illustration.
